Hi friends! I hope you are doing well and that you enjoy the day. I have an interview with Podcast this morning and we have fun today the usual pleasure of school at home / dance / basketball.

Today, I wanted to discuss a bit of work at home and the brain some tips with you all.

The friends of the OG reader know this story, but I started the blog when we live in Valdosta, Georgia. I had just started working as a personal coach and leaving the world of retail management, and it ended up becoming something that I could never have imagined. I love being able to connect with you all, and every day, I am so grateful for the freedom to work and win an income from the house while being here for children.

I know that many friends there manage a home business or work remotely. It has become the “new normal” and I like it to be an option. From the pandemic, the way we think of work has completely changed: home offices have replaced the cabins, video cats have replaced conference rooms and cafes have become the new coworking centers. And honestly? It comes with a ton of advantages: Convenience, flexibility, less trips and often a better balance between professional and privacy.

But here is the truth: remote work or work at home is not always easy. Without the right strategies, it may seem insulating, crushing or even unproductive.

Today, I wanted to share some of my favorite remote work tips that will help you live your best professional life, whether you are at home, an office or a coffee.

Remote working advice

I think that understanding what remote work really means is the key. This does not only work in your pajamas or responds to telephone calls from the sofa. It is a question of designing systems, routines and habits that keep you productive, connected and filled.

These tips for working remotely are intended to help you not only “get out of it”, but to succeed, grow and take advantage of your work from the configuration of the house. I also wanted to include advice for my friends who work practically for a business, because working for yourself is a different beast. (If you want me to do more blog posts behind the scenes, I would be happy to do it too!)

What does remote work mean?

Basically, remote work means doing your work outside a traditional office. This could mean installing a home office, working in a coffee or even doing your job on a trip. Unlike conventional jobs, there is no more freezing cat, no morning journey and no boss passing in front of your office every 20 minutes.

The biggest difference? Freedom and responsibility. You have more words to say on your working hours, your workspace and your daily rhythm, but you also need discipline and creativity to stay focused.

Remote work is no longer just an advantage; It is a whole new way of structuring work and life.

How to remain productive while working at a distance

Tip: Create a “journey ritual” (even if it’s wrong)

One of the most difficult parts of remote work is to move from “reception mode” to “work mode”. Catch your brain with a mini ritual: stroll through the block, make a special coffee or listen to a 5-minute pump-up reading list before sitting at your desk. He reports to your brain that your working hours have started.

Tip: hack your workspace

Jump the size. Add plants, a salt lamp or even a candle to configure your home office. Research shows that environmental clues influence productivity – so make your space inspiring.

Bonus: no one prevents you from hanging sparkling lights or configuring a treadmill desk. I love my walking cushion and I often use it throughout the day.

Tip: Work in time blocks

Because it is very easy for me to distract myself, I will block my time so that I only focus on a specific task for this period.

It is easy for remote contributions to go unnoticed. Keep a document in progress of victories: the completed projects, the brilliant comments of the customers, the crushed deadlines. When the weather increases, you will have data to save your request (and it is more difficult for a boss to say no when he is right in front of them).

How to establish relationships while working at a distance

Advice: Plan non -work telephone calls

Everything should not concern the deliverables. Put “virtual coffee cats” on your calendar. These occasional 15-minute calls with colleagues imitate the desktop waterflower and help you stay connected beyond Slack messages.

How to communicate effectively when you work remotely

Tip: kissing vocal notes

I am typing everything that is more than a few sentences. A quick voice note (via Slack, Voxer or Whatsapp) can erase things faster and add heat. In this way, they can really say what you mean in the tone of your voice, instead of being confused by emojis.

How to dress for a distance work

Tip: Adopt the “Zoom Mulet”

Business at the top, comfortable at the bottom. Invest in some “electric highs” (bright colors, sharp necklaces) which give you a polite appearance on video calls – while your leggings or joggers remain hidden under the office. I do this all the time lol.

How to feel connected when you work remotely

Advice: start a “third space” ritual

When you are not in an office, life can look like an endless house and house loop…. House. Break it by working once a week with a coffee or a library. This creates a “third space” that keeps your brain stimulated and makes work fresh. I also find that I am much more productive in a coffee.

How to produce taxes as a remote worker

Tip: Create a digital “shoe box”

Configure a cloud folder labeled “taxes”. Whenever you buy something related to work. We use a Bookeeper to follow everything – I sent my statements to them every month – and it makes it so much easier.

Bonus: protect your energy

Remote work facilitates the scrambling of limits. Protect your energy by defining hard “stop rituals” at the end of your working hours: close the laptop, turn on a candle, walk or go directly to training.
