Our 4th year home study program

Sharing our plan for the 4th year home study program! Please keep in mind that I am not a pro on this. We understand it as you go and this is our first full year of home school after finishing most of last year’s home teaching. Learn more about Why we decided to school at home in this post. Hi friends! How are you doing? I hope you spend an incredible day so far. We are officially in rear mode at school here. Liv started last week (8th year! I can’t even believe it) and we take back school at home today.

For today’s post, I wanted to share a little more on our plan for this year and the program we do if you are curious about home education.

I think it’s worth mentioning here Homeschool is not as intimidating as I thought, Especially when we consider it for the first time. We all want the best for our children, and I was really worried about failure. Now that we are in the world of schools at home, I can tell you that it is thriving. She learns so much and we are able to personalize her plan according to her interest and levels. We are also able to progress faster, which keeps it interested.

Our 4th year home study program

Here is what we plan to do this year, but it can always be changed or adjusted if necessary.

Mathematics (30 minutes)

We continue with Math Saxon and Nicole the Lady of Mathematics Because P likes it and she does an incredible job by teaching Saxon lessons. His software also takes care of the ranking, so p will simply seize his answers in the platform and will receive a note for each assignment. It is engaging and concise – we love it.

Reading (30 minutes)

I want to continue to read pleasant, so she has chosen a book that we will read together and discuss while advancing. We start with The lion, the witch and the wardrobe.

Writing + grammar (30 minutes)

For grammar, we always use Masterbookswhich is a denominational program. It includes the study of images, memorization, punctuation, spelling, vocabulary, observation, poems, psalms, letters and practical application by creative writing.

To write, we do the Fables, myths and fairy tales writing lessons from the IEW. It focuses on their structure and style method. Currently, she is working on reading fables, creating key contours and narration (being able to tell the story using her notes).

I ordered the books of last year last year and when she finished them, we will head in the 5th year books.

We also work on a research document each quarter, on the basis of an interest. His first will concern the bullfight after our trip to the Museum of Taurus in Seville.

Social studies (30 minutes)

I ordered a few history books to work, and also A tour book on how to draw the United States. It is delighted to start with this first and to label each state, the capital, the rivers, etc.

Science (only Friday)

I always work on the scientific levels. Last year, the thing at home occurred quite suddenly, so we just made a scientific project every week on Friday. I will probably keep Friday as a scientific day, but I was thinking of ordering monthly kits. If you have a RECS scientific kit subscription, please send them in my own way!

Last year, we did things like the dissection of the chouettes dumplings, the manufacture of a drop of eggs and the construction of a roller coaster.

Art / Fun / PE / Extra (several times during the week)

We have a few very funny things this year, including the farm school, which is one day a week. It is only for two hours and she can ride a horse, help with animals and create art on the farm. She also has one of the Parkour Homeschool lessons. Between these two things and her club basketball training, she always has the opportunity to be with other children and play every week, and I am grateful.

Homework:

We started using Khan Academy after some good friends recommended it and have been quite impressed so far. When you ecogs at home, there is really no need for homework, but I wanted P to remain in the groove to have a * small * duties because the plan is for her to return to school in person possibly. (I also have the impression that it makes sense because liv has homework every day.)

For homework, it is 20 minutes of mathematics Khan Academy, then 15-20 minutes of reading, grammar or coding.

How did you find a study program at home?

Brittany It was so nice to spend a lot of time with me on the phone. She asked questions about P and shared ideas. She made it possible that home teaching feels much less intimidating and I am so grateful for her advice. She also educated their children at home all their lives, which gives me hope in case P does not come back to school in person next week.

How long does Homeschool take?

The most beautiful thing about Homeschool is that it is an attention focused on 1: 1, so you don’t need almost as much time. Much of the school in person is spent to argue of children and try to get them to listen and be careful.

We are able to finish everything we have to do for the day in about two hours, which leaves the rest of the day. She can use this time to persuade things in which she is interesting (such as art, hook or piano practice), or we can enjoy a little out of land or outing.

How can you work at home and at home?

This is the part I always try to navigate. I take most of my contents during the weekend so that I can focus on the children and the things of the house as much as possible during the week. I also started planning customer calls and podcast interviews when the pilot is at home, because when he is not traveling, he is a teacher father and can take control of tasks at home.

I just feel like I move to 1000 MPH because solo parenting takes full concentration / attention / energy / effort, then when it is at home, I crash while trying to catch everything. Just understand this calendar and find my groove.
