Hi friends! How are you doing? I hope your week is going well! We dined with friends, a family dinner in Madre’s, Mass, NCL, the usual funny stuff. This is our first full week of school + school at home, so we officially return. Good luck to all my mom’s friends when we go back to chaos!
For today’s post, I wanted to talk a little about meat. I made a few weeks ago this summer, it was my 10 year old bisitor after not having eaten red meat or a lot of meat, for most of my life.
I stopped eating meat when I was eight because I read Tiger rhythm That Jonathan Taylor Thomas was vegetarian. As I was certainly going to marry him – he just needed to meet me – of course, I also had to be a vegetarian. (And yes, my parents totally tried to dissuade it but I was a stubborn little thing and they supported me.)
I did not eat meat at all before being in high school and even then it was a little uncertain for me. I finally added it to the college (eating with a low carbohydrate content will force you), I met the pilot, I saw a bunch of documentaries and read a particularly frightening book, then I found myself again as a pescatarian, then vegetarian, and for a few years, vegan.
I loved eating with plants and always loving vegan food. (A random fact about my subject is that I went to raw vegan culinary school. This chocolate pie is the best vegan pie that you will have in your liiiife.) I had added fish, and just before getting pregnant from Liv, I started to eat chicken. Internet was unleashed. It was also at the time when a trash station that took me 30 minutes to write would receive more than 100 comments. These are the days haha.
When I was pregnant with P, I wanted a steak, then I got home and asked the pilot if he would make one to me for me.
You should have seen joy on his face. He went to Whole Foods, caught a beautiful steak nourished with grass, toasted him to perfection, and I ate everything.
When I spoke to my acupuncturist, he said: “You have to eat flesh and blood to make flesh and blood.” Primal lol.
Since then, I haven’t really looked backAnd now I eat meat several times a week. Although I don’t think we need crazy amounts of protein, I really think it’s important. (I always believe that fibers and micronutrients are the most important!)
Eat beef again after being vegetarian
Anyway, now that I have been everywhere with regard to meat consumption, here are some things that I have learned along the way:
– Quality makes all the difference in the world. It is important to me that the products we use are responsible and sustainable. This is a huge reason why we get almost all of our meat MouthwashAnd I also buy certified organic and gas certified options in Whole Foods and to the farmer market.
– It is really a biioindiviaul thing. Like anything else, it depends on your body, your preferences and your unique needs. Some people feel horrible on protein -rich diets, while others thrive. Overall, I have the impression that most women succeed very well with the nutrients that meats provide. There are also some nutrients that you can get on animal -based products, and I have the impression that they can be extremely nourishing and satisfactory. Honestly, I feel like I come back to life once I started to eat red meat again.
– If you want to reach your protein goals, meal preparation is the best way to do it. I love to make hard eggs, grated chicken, chicken gabilles and seasoned chopped beef. P and I had chopped beef bowls with rice and avocado with a fruit side for lunch almost every day last week.
– As I mentioned above, proteins / meat are only once of the puzzle. What is the color of your plate? How did you sleep? How is stress? How is your digestion? Mood? Bike? Exercise? There are so many things that contribute to a well -balanced routine, but nutrients are definitely an important part in the way we feel and function.
