I’m sharing my 2025 Christmas gift guide for kids this year! We tend to stick to the following purchasing strategy: “Something they want, something they need, something to wear, and something to read.”
Hello friends! Happy Wednesday! I hope you are well and that your week leading up to Thanksgiving is going wonderfully. I have a long list of things to do this week, but I’m sneaking out to a yoga class with a friend.
I’m really excited about today’s gift guide because kids really bring the magic to Christmas. I’m basically like Buddy the Elf and thought nothing could make the season sweeter…and then we had kids. They only magnify all the magic of the holidays. We’re doing our holiday shopping early, so I wanted to offer some ideas if you’re doing the same thing.
When shopping for kids during the holidays, we keep things simple. They get their presents from Santa and their Christmas presents, and then on our part we stick to “something they want, something they need, something to wear, and something to read.” This checks all the major boxes and keeps things from getting too bananas with gifts from my parents and their significant others. [Another hack: any gifts that aren’t opened in the first couple of days are stocked away in the playroom. I bring them out on a rainy day or when the kids say they’re looking for something to do.]
2025 Holiday Gift Guide for Kids
Today I’m sharing some of the things on their personal wish lists, along with some tried-and-true favorites. I’d love to hear your kids’ gift requests in the comments and any ideas you have! Something they want:
–A 3D pen! P has this one and loves it
–Tonies! I wish this existed when the kids were younger; perfect for toddlers/preschoolers
–Play ice cream truck. Girls have been playing with this for YEARS.
–Kit Woobles. It’s better for older kids, but super fun
– American girl doll. These have always been a huge hit…the girls have at least 10. Liv has outgrown them, but I’m saving them for the future 🙂
– A new bike Or scooter
– Zingo! This is a perfect board game for young children. They also like Guess whoOperation, Bop It and Uno
– New roller skates Or skateboard
– Magnatiles Or anything from Lego
– Driving wheels. We did this when we lived in Georgia and the girls were crazy about it.
–Ponycycle. P has a similar one and it’s been a hit for years
Something they need:
– New Ugg boots << raincoats last the longest
– Dance or gymnastics leotard
– Experiential gifts are always a hit, like tickets to a museum or activity they love, or memberships to the Children’s Museum or indoor trampoline park.
–Sleeping bag that converts into a backpack
– Practice objective and a new soccer ball
Something to wear:
– A party dress Or elegant blazer
–The coolest Spiderman pajamas
Something to read:
–Everything Mercy Watson. We love reading them together
-The Babysitters Club graphic novels. I highly recommend if you have a child aged 8 to 11.
– Ivy and Bean
– anything Pig the Pug
– Thelma the Unicorn
– Pinkalicious Collection
– Fantasy Nancy
– Pete the Cat
– Where is Waldo?
– Crazy Libs
– The covered wagon children (this is a fun read aloud)
