Hello friends! Happy Friday! What’s happening this weekend? We meet friends for dinner, head to a fun fall festival, and visit a high school for Liv (how?!). For now, I’m just having a quiet morning with my Lumebox and my PEMF mat. The weather has been dreamy this week, so I’m hoping we can go on a family hike. I would love to know what you are doing!
It’s time for the weekly Friday Favorites Party. This is where I share some of my favorite finds from the week and around the web. I always love hearing about your favorites, so feel free to shout out something you like in the comments section below.
10.17 Friday Favorites
Fashion + beauty + random:
Adventures in New York! We had the best fall trip to New York. It was P’s first time, and it lived up to his high expectations. She couldn’t believe how tall the buildings were and how many things there were to do. Both kids were blown away by the great shopping, beautiful scenery of Central Park, and all the amazing dining options.
Some of the highlights:
Vision Six with the family! Liv and I saw the touring production and LOVED it, and I thought it would be the perfect family Broadway show since we have already seen the Disney productions. It’s not really inappropriate – there are innuendoes that will go totally over the heads of younger people – and it’s short and sweet. No intermission and more of a concert-like atmosphere. This casting was crazy – Heart of Stone I almost sobbed into my cup of white wine – and everyone loved it. P said she wanted to see him again!
Pizza at Don Antonio. A pizza like this always leaves me perplexed. It’s mushy, briny, flavorful, not greasy. How come 99% of gluten-free pizzas are horrible when such treasures exist?! It IS possible to make the perfect gluten-free pizza…you just have to get on a plane to get it.
(Always the anchovy margherita)
Modern bread and bagel. I’ve been following them on Instagram forever and added it to our must-see list. P is also gluten-free, and we are both often disappointed by gluten-free bagels and donuts. This place had both, and they were more amazing than I could ever explain. They tasted like the REAL deal! NYC does it really well, my friends.
(I loved it so much that I went back the next day to get bagels to take home in my suitcase. The good news is they ship!!)
Natural History Museum. Liv and I went years ago and wanted to take P. She was blown away by the exhibits and we all enjoyed walking around. It’s easy to spend a few hours here and it was the perfect way to spend an afternoon.
Central Park. We walked around Central Park for a few hours and found a beautiful grassy area where we could relax and the kids could run around freely. That’s when I imagined my life in New York and what it would be like to hang out here in the middle of the work day or on a weekend. The life.
Sculpture Society with friends!! I reached out to my friend Heather, who I’ve known forever in the blogging world but haven’t seen in years, and was so excited that she could meet up for a Sculpt Society class at UES. The studio was beautiful and we were able to take classes from Matt, who is one of my favorite TSS instructors. (I love them all, though!) It was so great to catch up with Heather and also meet and hang out with fellow blog reader Sana!
Sana contacted me because she lives in New York and I asked her if she wanted to meet up in class. I love meeting blog reading friends in real life. Often you’ll tell me that you feel like you know me from reading the blog, but it’s the same thing: I feel like I know a lot of you (especially my OG reader friends) after all these years.
With Sana and Heather:
(she brought the sweetest package of gluten free treats! The girls and I had the best dessert picnic on the flight home)
As for the classes, I loved it. It happened very quickly and it killed my inner thighs. Matt was also a delight in person. I love his energy and teaching style and am so happy I had the opportunity to take a class with him.

We also went shopping, ate delicious food, walked everywhere and just enjoyed the city. New York is such a magical place and I hope we don’t come back in 6 years 😉
(just a little shout out here for our loved one Amex platinum! We used our $100 RESY dining credit, $200 hotel stay discount, points toward our hotel, and free lounge access for this trip. If you decide to check it out, my referral link is here. My of my credit card travel tips are in this article.)
Olive Rose is here! I’ve been waiting for this day for months as I shake my emptiness Skin tint bottle. It’s lightweight, buildable, and feels like skincare and makeup in one. I also ordered some lip butter and blush to try, as well as a restock of my beloved shower gel.
Read, watch, listen:
I’m reading this right now and it’s fascinating to see how tongue posture, swallowing, breathing, etc. affect the shape and structure of the face. (Beyond the physical impact, good respiratory mechanics make a huge difference for sleep and the nervous system!)
Are you looking Dancing with the stars? If so, who are you rooting for this season??
Don’t forget to check out this week’s podcast episode with medical intuitive Rachel Reimer here.
Fitness, health and good nutrition:
Canopy has a new air purifier! You know I’m obsessed with Canopy products, and this new air purifier is sleek and beautiful, and you can stack it with the bedside humidifier. The perfect combination! To use FITNESSISTA here for 15% off.
I can’t wait to make my favorite pumpkin chili recipe.
Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today! Have a wonderful weekend and see you soon!
