1.23 Friday Favorites – The Fitnessista

Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!

Hello friends! Happy Friday! How are you doing? What are you doing this weekend? I hope all my friends in the path of the winter storm stay safe and warm. This weekend we have an NCL event at the food bank, a date night (!) and a barre class. I also struggle with these little puppies between jobs HPI modules.

Last week I took an incredible little trip to San Diego for our brains. We host events several times a year, and I always look forward to the opportunity to reflect, share ideas, and learn from Jill. I was especially excited for this one because it was an excuse to see my best friend Betsy and catch up with her.

My flight intentionally arrived very early on Wednesday to give me time to relax before the events. It was pure chaos here with little Lola – she is SO sweet but man, puppies are definitely a lot of work lol – so I headed straight to At Betsy’s. I was able to see her before she left for work for the day and was able to use her house as a hub before we checked into the hotel.

I got a coffee at Better Buzz and took it to Mission for an hour walk by the ocean. Lunch was takeout from Tender Greens, which I took to Betsy’s to enjoy before a few 1:1 customer calls.

When Betsy came home, we took a Lagree class (the best!!):

(to have this tank in at least 6 colors. It is comfortable, long and does not ride up, with built-in bra)

then I went to Ponyboy’s for dinner. It’s a high-comfort treat from the 50s with the option to add caviar to many of their offerings. 😉 We will DEFINITELY come back! The drinks and food were SO good, and catching up with Betsy over food and cocktails was just what I needed.

I met my best friend from work Gisele at the hotel, and the rest of the weekend was filled with sessions, brainstorming,

amazing meals, hikes, more Lagree (went three days in a row for the first time. My legs and core also died) and slept through the night. Bless him.

It was so awesome to see Tina! We stay connected via text but I haven’t seen her in person in years.

It was just the little refreshment I needed and it’s always a pleasure to return to one of my favorite places.

(I wear these jeans all the time <– on sale at the moment)

For now, it’s time for the weekly Friday Faves party. This is where I share some of my favorite finds from the week and around the web. I always love hearing about your favorites, so feel free to shout out something you like in the comments section below.

1.23 Friday Favorites

Fashion, beauty, chance:

A hike in Sabino Canyon with the family. The river was flowing and the weather was perfect.

We can always count on P for snacks:

(The kids are obsessed with candy canes and I got the last box from the “last chance!” section at Whole Foods. Goodbye candy canes for another year.)

We also tried Chilln; a new ice cream parlor in Tucson. You choose your base, mix-ins, and toppings, and they flash-freeze them with nitrogen so the texture is ultra smooth.

This is an almond milk ice cream with olive oil and sea salt. I wanted to try something a little different and this did not disappoint. We might have gone there twice in 2 days 😉

Read, watch, listen:

Have you watched the latest season of Emilie in Paris? I’m only a few episodes in and while I think it’s moving slower than previous seasons, it’s a perfect escape.

I downloaded this to read.

Fitness, health and good nutrition:

Local friends: Penelope pizza is gluten free! Just call and order 24 hours in advance because they make everything in house and the bread takes that long to rise. This is definitely going to be a regular thing here:

To be completely honest, I haven’t been the best at packing myself healthy lunches. The days are filled with calls, so I grab quick bites like granola, meat sticks, or chips in the afternoon. I usually make a huge batch of soup and felt exhausted.

My friend Gisele recommend Thistle and it has been INCREDIBLE. The meals have no added gluten (some contain oats, so just be careful of the ingredients if you’re sensitive) and there are plant- and meat-based options. I ordered four lunches and two snacks and they were all fresh and delicious. You can try it and save 60% on your first week with my referral link here!
